Day 36 (Fort Garland, CO – Walsenburg, CO)

Today marked a pretty big milestone, as I reached the 1,000 mile mark on my third run of the day. It was a good day overall as well. My legs started feeling better and I had a nice tailwind most of the way.

My first run started on a gradual uphill, but after that it was all downhill for the rest of the day. The traffic was pretty bad, but I didn’t mind all that much since I had enough room to run on the side of the road.

After my second run we got some lunch at a local coffee shop, then got back on the road for my third run. I passed the 1,000 mark at 3.6 miles into run number three. America by Simon & Garfunkel was playing on my iPod as I reached the milestone. It was a nice little moment.

I’m planning on taking Tuesday off so I’m going to try and finish my day early tomorrow to give myself as much rest as possible.
