Day 6 (Brawley, CA – Imperial Gables, CA)

After packing all of my miles into the early part of the day yesterday, I decided to spread it out today, doing 6 shorter runs with short breaks in between.

It was yet another day of 105+ degree weather, but after training in the polar vortex all winter, this heat is quite refreshing.

The highlight of the day was getting to run by the sand dunes in the Yuma Desert. They were absolutely incredible. While running, I knew it had to have been used as a filming location for Tatooine in Star Wars. It turns out they filmed the Sarlacc Pit scene from Return of the Jedi there.

My legs felt a bit heavy throughout the day, but the shorter runs made it easier to withstand.

It’s pretty crazy to think that in just a few days I’ll already be out of California. I looked on a map at how much ground I’ve already covered in less than a week, and it was great to see some significant progress.
